Making the Most of the Water Heater Tax Credit
–ARS/Rescue Rooter Encourages Homeowners to Take Advantage of the Tax Credit for Water Heaters–
MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 27 /PRNewswire/ — As the midway point of 2010 approaches, ARS/Rescue Rooter®, a privately held, nationwide provider of air conditioning, heating and plumbing, is reminding homeowners that now is the time to take advantage of the water heater tax credit available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
As part of the act, which was originally set to expire on Dec. 31, 2010, homeowners who buy and install an energy-efficient water heater may receive a tax credit of up $1,500. But before homeowners purchase a new water heater, there are some important facts to consider.
– The act does not provide tax credits for all water heaters. Only
certain models of ENERGY STAR qualified water heaters are eligible.
– To receive the water heater tax credit, homeowners must install the
water heater in their primary residence no later than Dec. 31, 2010.
– The water heater must be installed in an existing home. Improvements
to new construction do not qualify.
Details related to tax credits for water heaters have undergone several revisions, so before purchasing a water heater, ARS/Rescue Rooter advises consumers to check EnergyStar.gov to ensure they’ve selected a qualifying model.
